Cloudflare has introduced programmable stablecoin wallets designed to let AI agents independently purchase APIs, data, and online content.
You can reserve your wallet handle now, though payment will launch later.
What’s the scoop?
- How it works: Each user will have an Account Wallet that they control. They can then create separate Virtual Wallets for AI agents, which operate through API keys and spend from the main account.
- The controls: Users can set spending limits, approved merchants, allowances, and maximum transaction sizes. This lets an agent independently test and purchase services without receiving human approval for every payment.
- The broader system: The wallets will use stablecoin micropayments and the x402 protocol to purchase services from Cloudflare’s upcoming Monetization Gateway and other compatible endpoints. Cloudflare is also attaching readable wallet handles to agents so merchants can identify who they represent.
