What is EigenLayer?
EigenLayer is pioneering a transformative approach to crypto-economic security through its innovative restaking protocol. By enabling ETH holders to "restake" their tokens, EigenLayer creates a decentralized marketplace that extends security beyond the Ethereum network to additional crypto applications. This groundbreaking mechanism not only enhances the security infrastructure of the broader blockchain ecosystem but also offers ETH holders the opportunity to earn extra yield on their investments. Users can effortlessly restake whitelisted liquid staking tokens such as rETH, stETH, and cbETH, or opt to establish an EigenPod to operate their own validator while participating in restaking. As a result, EigenLayer is setting new standards in decentralized finance, empowering users to maximize their returns while contributing to the security of diverse blockchain projects.

Why we're watching
EigenLayer has earmarked 15% of the total EIGEN supply for airdrop distributions to users! The first season of the EigenLayer stakedrop distributed 5% of the total supply, but 10% remains for users who continue to deposit (or leave their deposits) in EigenLayer.
