Fairshake spent $5.5 million backing Maryland Democrat Adrian Boafo, who won Tuesday's primary for Rep. Steny Hoyer's open House seat, adding to a string of primary wins for the industry's top PAC.
What's the Scoop?
- The Boafo Win: Maryland state delegate Adrian Boafo won the Democratic primary for retiring Rep. Steny Hoyer's seat after drawing more than $5 million in crypto industry support. Fairshake committed roughly $5.5 million, far above its typical House-race spending. As Coindesk reported, Fairshake Spokesman Geoff Vetter said Fairshake moved Boafo "from fifth place to the halls of Congress."
- Other Tuesday Wins: Fairshake also backed Rep. April McClain Delaney (D-MD) with $516,000, Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT), and Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) with $1.3 million. All won or were leading.
- The War Chest: Fairshake had about $126 million on hand at the end of last month, even after heavy primary spending. A separate AI-focused group, Think Big PAC, which shares many Fairshake funders, took a more aggressive tack by attacking New York candidate Alex Bores over ties to Sam Bankman-Fried.
