0xmons is an artist, dev, and founder who's renowned for projects like 0xmons (onchain neural net collectibles), Sudoswap (the decentralized NFT marketplace), and most recently, Stomp.
You can trace the origins of Stomp to January 2025 when 0xmons introduced monchain, an onchain PvP monster battler built atop his C.H.O.M.P. system. These have since evolved into Stomp, which now has an alpha available to play atop MegaETH.

The vision began around extensibility, i.e. players having the ability to create their own monsters and moves onchain (think the customization of Mugen x Pokémon's battle mechanics). I don't know if this extensibility is still a focus for the current form of Stomp, but it's still a latent possibility in the code, so the terrain ahead is wide open.
As far as the base game today, you first use the stomp.gg Gacha page to roll a free team, then you can start battling CPU teams or other players, and if you win you get Gacha points to roll more mons, etc. The surface is familiar, but underneath some novel onchain innovations make up the foundation, and the idea going forward is to make the game fun and polished firstly, then build out further experimentations from there.
The experience is already clean, though, and I love the potential, so I plan to make myself comfortable here as a casual player. If you're curious and want to try it for yourself, it's very simple to begin. You would just follow these steps:
1. Head to stomp.gg
In your upper right profile tab, you'll find your automatically generated
MegaETH address. You can deposit ETH here to cover your gas costs, which are minor. My entire first battle only took 0.0001 ETH, or ~$0.23 currently. Alternatively, you can click on the "Advanced" wallet button to connect an existing external wallet if you'd prefer that.

2. Connect your socials
I don't know if this is required to get your first free Gacha points, but I noticed I only got mine after connecting my X account and MegaETH Terminal account in my profile, so I'd recommend doing this next just in case. No worries if you don't already have a Terminal account, the connection flow will let you create one on the fly.

3. Roll your first mons
At this point, go and click on the "Set Up Your Team" button on the homepage, which will bring you to the Gacha interface. Press "Roll," after which you'll receive your first team of four mons. Now you'd be ready for battles. It takes 7 Gacha points to roll again (and for each ensuing new roll), so you'll need to play a battle to earn more points before you can roll for more mons.

4. Test the waters against a CPU opponent
On the homepage, you'll see the "Battle CPU" and "Join PVP Queue" options. To start, opt for the CPU to get your bearings and select the initial "Team 1" opponent. Then it's just classic Pokémon-style battling. You can pick one of your active mon's four moves per turn or swap it out for one of your other mons. A basic grasp on stats, types, and moves will help you win, and you can find all this info on the Mons page. For instance, don't play a Pengym (Ice) into an Embursa (Fire) and so forth.

As you can see in the screenshot above, you get 7 Gacha points for a first-game bonus plus 2 extra points if you win. Keep in mind, though, that only your first free roll will net you 4 mons as your starters. Subsequent rolls will only bring in one mon at a time, like this Ekineki I received below.

Once you've got more mons, you can head to the Teams page and assemble your starting 4 however you wish.
Go for the comps you think will synergize best together (e.g. some mons can buff or heal your other mons), and then you'll be ready to start duking it out against other human players in the PVP queue.

This flow I've outlined is all you'd need to begin here, so Stomp's quite approachable. It's also technically interesting and centered around fun, which is the best foundation to build out from. 0xmons has more updates in the works, too, so if you enjoy the game now, you'll undoubtedly be a fan of where things are heading.
That said, Stomp's my recommended gateway to the MegaETH app scene today if you're a casual onchain adventurer that wants to start with recreation instead of more advanced financial stuff. We'll have to wait and see where the game grows from here, but it already has an awesome base to work from, so it's worth a try.
