According to an announcement published on April 1 via Discord, Hyperliquid Hyperliquid Labs has released a test version of its mobile trading app to the Google Play Store.

What's the Scoop;

  • Mobile Ambitions: Anonymous Hyperliquid Labs developer iliensinc has published an announcenement to the Hyperliquid Discord, unveiling the launch of Hyperliquid's mobile app on the Google Play Store. Android users can access the app by navigating to the provided link, and at the time of publication, the application had been downloaded over 500 times.
  • Limited Scope: According to iliensinc's announcement, this release is an MVP intentionally limited in scope, and only includes notifications for order fills. It is intended to be an incremental upgrade from Hyperliquid's previous Progressive Web App (PWA), and will incorporate early user feedback regarding feature prioritization and device-specific issues.
  • Google's Epic Defeat: Last month, as part of a proposed settlement with Fortnite creator Epic Games, Google agreed to allow developers to accept external payments, opening the door for Android application developers to begin accepting crypto payments beyond the Google Play Store.
  • Sidelined Potential: Onchain analysis indicates that third-party Hyperliquid interfaces account for 10% of platform trading volumes, with the majority originating from mobile interfaces. By developing a new mobile app, Hyperliquid is putting itself in direct competition with this segment of its ecosystem, a move which could enable it to directly capture a greater percentage of those mobile trades.
