TON, or "The Open Network," is a Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchain originally developed by Telegram for scalable cross-chain interoperability.
Its native token, Toncoin (TON), is used for network operations and transactions. TON also offers user-friendly features like readable wallet addresses and integrated apps in Telegram that allow for the smooth transfer of tokens like USDT.
To enhance scalability, TON uses sharding, dividing the network into interconnected pieces called shards. It also offers services like TON Storage, TON DNS, TON Proxy, and TON Sites. Despite facing regulatory challenges, TON continues to develop and maintain strong ties to Telegram.
