Coindesk reported that Elon Musk’s X is exploring using stablecoins, potentially including USDC, to pay creators and other content providers on the platform.

What’s the scoop?

  • X’s Plan: The discussions come as X rolls out its new Original Content Rewards Program, which pays users for original reporting, commentary and other content. There are no further details related to what the stablecoin will be though and what the structure of implementation, if any, will be, though Starlink already uses stablecoins for cross-border payments.
  • Social Goes Fintech: X is far from alone. TikTok is exploring letting users send and request money directly through DMs, while Meta has already begun using USDC for creator payouts in certain markets.
