The United States Senate has consented to Michael Selig serving as the next Chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

- Senate Confirmation: Selig was confirmed by the Senate to on Thursday, December 18, 2025. He will soon be sworn in as the 15th Chair of the CFTC, replacing acting Chair Caroline Pham, who has already announced her next roll at crypto payments firm MoonPay.
- Pro-Crypto Pick: Selig's is the current Chief Counsel of the SEC's Crypto Task Force and a previous Bankless podcast guest. His appointment is being celebrated as a "pro-crypto" pick given his familiarity with the industry.
