# Lighter Set to Add Binary Options Support to Its ZK Prover

Litscan creator Ungus flagged a [newly spotted commit](https://github.com/elliottech/lighter-prover/commit/28ae613d9c264192e7a36b42f15dda5df3f7103f) in Lighter's prover repo over the weekend showing that the platform is building out support for binary outcome (i.e. prediction) markets. 

 It's a clear sign that Lighter, already a top-tier ZK perp venue with deep Robinhood distribution, is about to plant a flag in crypto's intensifying prediction market wars.

## **What’s the Scoop?**

- **The find:** In a [Sept. 20 thread](https://x.com/UngusTrade/status/2101777350006603904), Ungus walked through a commit titled "Binary options support," noting it's circuit-level code rather than a shipped product, meaning no live markets or launch date exist yet. 

- **Mechanics:** Per the code, markets are fully collateralized in USDC with no leverage or liquidations, trade on a 0-to-100 scale, and settle at either endpoint once resolved. 

- **Unique twist:** The circuit also allows for scalar settlement, where a market can pay out anywhere across the range instead of a flat yes-or-no, opening the door to things like a no-liquidation bet on where a pre-IPO valuation lands inside a floor-and-cap band. 

- **Who's allowed:** Markets are created, managed, and resolved by whitelisted operators, which is a narrower, more curated version of the "anyone can post a bond" model Hyperliquid uses for its HIP-3 builder-deployed markets. 

- **The bigger picture:** This advance lands amid a broader collapse of the line between perp DEXs and prediction markets. Polymarket recently launched a leveraged perps arm, Hyperliquid shipped HIP-4 event contracts, and Kalshi has pushed into onshore perps. Lighter joining in gives it a shot at capturing that flow inside an exchange that already carries Robinhood Wallet users and lists pre-IPO/RWA products.
