# Ethereum L2 Linea Opens Claims for 9.4B Token Airdrop

Linea, the zkEVM Layer 2 built by Consensys, has launched its long-awaited token generation event, opening a 90-day claim window for over 9.36B LINEA tokens. Check [*Bankless Claimables*](https://www.bankless.com/claimables/reveal?) to see if you're eligible.

### **What’s the Scoop?**
- **Claim Requirements:** Eligibility was based on a July snapshot. Users must claim from the same wallets holding LXP or LXP-L balances.
- **Tokenomics Breakdown:** 85% of the total token supply is set aside for ecosystem use, including 10% unlocked for XP recipients and 75% earmarked for one of the largest ecosystem funds in crypto. Linea Surge participants also received 4% of token supply unlocked at TGE.
- **No Governance Role:** LINEA will not be used for protocol governance. Strategic decisions are handled by institutions like Consensys, ENS, and Eigen Labs under the Linea Consortium.
- **Fee Burn Design:** Linea [unveiled](https://linea.build/blog/linea-sets-new-standard-for-ethereum-alignment) a deflationary fee model in July, with 20% of ETH gas fees burned and 80% will be used to buy-and-burn LINEA.
