There are various understandable reasons for this ire, though I've also seen breakthroughs here. For instance, when Nouns Esports was using ETH to back Super Smash Bros. Melee players and tournaments, lots of people in the Melee community rallied to the Nouns, appreciative of the grassroots funding.
