WalletConnect is an open-source wallet connection toolkit that allows application developers to seamlessly and securely facilitate connections with their protocols.
Crypto users who scan WalletConnect QR codes when connecting to an application can sign transactions directly from their mobile devices. End-to-end encryption ensures the security of transferred data and private keys throughout the interaction, and application connections are automatically disconnected as a result of inactivity.
In September, WalletConnect unveiled WCT as the native token of its WalletConnect Network, the progressively decentralized backbone of its UX ecosystem. These tokens can be staked for WCT rewards, and holders have the ability to introduce governance and fee mechanisms at a later date.
While claims for Round 1 of WalletConnect’s airdrop closed on October 18, Bankless Citizens can still qualify to share in a 50k WCT allocation by associating a mobile wallet with their Bankless account via WalletConnect!
How to Connect with WalletConnect to Bankless
Connecting your Web3 wallets to Bankless provides access to Claimables, a notification tool that scans your address for unclaimed crypto rewards (aka free money) and will alert you to important onchain events, such as new airdrop opportunities you’re eligible to claim or expiring 
ENS addresses.
Additionally, Bankless provides customized airdrop hunting recommendations based on your token holdings and will automatically verify the completion of certain onchain quests when you associate an address with your account via WalletConnect.
- Hover over your profile in the upper right to reveal a drop-down menu. Next, click the “Wallets” button.
- In the menu that appears, click on the “Add wallet” button.
- Click “Via WalletConnect” to connect your supported mobile wallet to Bankless with WalletConnect.
- A WalletConnect QR code will pop up; scan it with any trusted mobile wallets, including Rainbow, MetaMask, or Trust Wallet. This example uses
Rainbow Wallet, and you can click the quest below to set one up.

- Once you open the Rainbow Wallet mobile app, click in the top left corner, then scan the WalletConnect QR code on your desktop.
- You’ll then receive a Rainbow Wallet request to connect your wallet to the application. Click “Connect” and establish a connection.
How to Connect with WalletConnect to dApps
- Visit the website frontend for a crypto application (for this example, we will use Uniswap).
- Navigate to the Web3 wallet connection options tab (typically, this can be found by clicking on “Connect” in the upper right hand corner).
- From within the menu of wallet choices, select “WalletConnect.”
- A WalletConnect QR code will pop up; scan it with any trusted mobile wallets, including Rainbow, MetaMask, or Trust Wallet. This example uses Rainbow Wallet, and you can click the quest below to set one up.

- Once you open the Rainbow Wallet mobile app, click in the top left corner, then scan the WalletConnect QR code on your desktop.
